Our neuroimmunology and neuroinfectious diseases specialists see patients at the Neurology Clinic or the Infectious Diseases Clinic. Both clinics are located on the Washington University Medical Campus in St. Louis.
Dr. David Clifford and Dr. Beau Ances – Neurology Clinic
Clinic director David Clifford, MD, and Beau Ances, MD, PhD, accept referrals of patients who have neurological infectious disease issues and inflammatory brain diseases.
In particular, we see patients with:
- HIV-associated neurological disorders
- Creutzfeld Jakob Disease
- neurosarcoidosis
- autoimmune encephalitis
- PML
- toxoplasma encephalitis
- cryptococcal meningitis
- neurosyphilis
- Lyme disease
- cytomegatovirus disease
- other selected infectious problems
Dr. Clifford and Dr. Ances see patients on Friday mornings at the Neurology Clinic in the Center for Advanced Medicine.

Dr. Robyn Klein – Infectious Diseases Clinic
Robyn S. Klein, MD, PhD, provides follow-up care for patients after hospitalization for neuroinfectious diseases.
Dr. Klein also accepts referrals of patients who have neurological infectious diseases including:
- HIV-associated neurological infections
- PML
- toxoplasma encephalitis
- cryptococcal meningitis
- neurosyphilis
- Lyme disease
- cytomegalovirus disease
- other neuroinfectious diseases
Dr. Klein sees patients on the fourth Monday of each month.
